Diagnosis and Strategies for empowering cultural relations between EU and LAC
The EULAC-Focus Project held from 7 to 10 November in the Argentine city of Buenos Aires, its 4th project workshop. The meeting started on day 1 with a meeting of the WP3, cultural dimension team and invited guests from across Latin America, the Caribbean and Europe to discuss the qualitative analysis of the questionnaire on the diagnostic of the cultural relation between the European Union and Latin America and the Caribbean and the questionnaire on the strategies for strenthening the relations between the two regions.
The first questionnaire was sent earlier this year to circa 700 experts (with 160 answers) with the second sent to those who had agreed to receive the second and had previously received and read the report from the first questionnaire (this time with 73 answers) affording them the opportunity to review their original answers and answer further questions. The experts consulted originated from 44 different countries, from a vast set of target groups giving the team answers from very different perspectives in relation to what is the diagnosis and what could be the strategies for empowering cultural relations between the European Union and Latin America and the Caribbean.
The seminar that took place on the 7th November in Buenos Aires was the last stage of the DELPHI methodology for questionnaires review, where specific questions where reviewed in response to both the questionnaire reports, in parallel sessions, allowing the team to discuss very enriching ideas and suggestions in small groups.
Attendees included very high level experts, including two former deputy ministers of culture (from Brazil and Argentina), the Director of the Cultural Observatory of Chile, the Director of the British Council in the Americas, the Director of the Goethe Institute in Buenos Aires, the director of the Cultural Institute of Italy and the director of the EULAC Foundation, all experts in the field of culture in Europe and Latin Americans and Caribbean countries.
Their insight and expertise will help the EULAC-FOCUS team to put together the high impact actions for encouraging and enlarging cultural relations between the EU and Latin America and the Caribbean.
